US36 & Left Hand Creek Emergency Culvert Repair – Boulder County, Colorado

In September of 2013, rainfall in excess of 20 inches over five days caused severe and widespread flooding in Colorado’s Front Range.  As a major stream in one of the hardest-hit areas, Left Hand Creek saw 500-year flood volumes, resulting in significant damage.

The project was CDOT funded through Left Hand Canyon Water District. The work performed by American West was preliminary work for a future bridge and highway widening project that was expected to take place in 2017-18.

Our work consisted of relocating 760 linear feet of 8″ C-900 water main, the installation of 200 linear feet of 20″ steel casing and two water main taps and connections. AWC also removed 300 linear feet (4.88 tons) of asbestos abatement piping.  

This project was completed over a month early and under budget.
