North Dry Gulch
This project provided a much needed upgrade to the stormwater infrastructure in the floodplain zone near W. Colfax Avenue and W. 14th Ave. in Lakewood, CO. It improved flood protection to handle a 100-year flood event, and improved roadway conditions and safety.
Key work included upsizing the storm sewer system, removing and relocating utilities, installing a new waterline, and constructing a new sanitary sewer main. A large stormwater outfall structure was built to manage increased stormwater flow. Roadway improvements included new ADA curb ramps, sidewalks, and asphalt pavement.
AWC provided essential support throughout the project, conducting plan reviews to ensure accuracy and feasibility, facilitating chartering and goals meetings, and providing detailed cost analysis. AWC’s recommendations included eliminating unnecessary stormwater components to reduce costs and suggesting modifications to optimize the design. AWC played a critical role in addressing field issues as they arose, offering timely solutions to keep the project on track, and contributed to design discussions by providing expert insights. This involvement helped streamline the project, optimize costs, and manage challenges effectively.
